Our Commitment

We want Pragmatists.org to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or voice control.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments. We don't meet all of them yet; the known gaps are listed below.
What We Do
We use semantic HTML to give pages a meaningful structure. Images that carry meaning have alternative text, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers. Interactive elements are keyboard accessible and show a visible focus indicator.
Display settings, at the bottom of each page of the site, include a high-contrast mode that strengthens text contrast throughout, and a text-size setting.
Keyboard Navigation
Interactive elements on our website can be reached with a keyboard alone. You can use the Tab key to move between links and form controls, Enter or Space to activate them, and Escape to close dialogs or menus. A skip link at the top of each page jumps past the navigation to the main content.
Text and Readability
Pages are built to work with browser text resizing and zoom up to 200%. We use clear, readable fonts and comfortable line spacing, and we write in plain language wherever we can.
Ongoing Efforts
We check new pages and features for accessibility as we build them, and we fix problems as we find them or as you tell us about them.
Accessibility is ongoing work. As standards evolve and new technologies emerge, we will keep updating our practices.
Known Limitations
Some small gray text, such as captions and fine print, has less contrast than WCAG AA asks for. The high-contrast setting fixes it; we're working on the default colors too.
The identity check asks its security questions under a time limit set by our verification provider, and recordings members make of our scripts are limited to 60 seconds. If either gets in your way, write to us and we'll help another way.
Some third-party content, such as embedded media and the payment form, may not meet every standard. We'll update this page as we fix what we can.
